LETHBRIDGE 48 HOUR FILM FESTIVAL - For the Love of Film

WHO: OPEN TO EVERYONE | Local and non-local filmmaking teams welcome | All Ages Welcome

There is no limit on team size. However, we can only provide 2 complimentary tickets per team to the award show and showcase. Additional team members receive a 50% off on admission to the award show ($5). The general admission price is $10. Student entry price is $5.

WHAT:

• The Lethbridge Independent Film Society is jumping in with Arts Days for our innaugural 48 hour film challenge that will celebrate filmmaking in all its glory. The theme, "For the Love of Film," reflects one of the key tenents of why the society was founded in 2017. We love films! Making them, watching them, studying them; long ones, short ones, comedic and dramatic, and we're weaving this love of film into our prompts and props for our first EVER 48 Hour Film Festival.

WHEN:

• It all starts on Friday, September 13th at the Slice Bar and Grill (314 8 St S) for our FESTIVAL LAUNCH PARTY. Filmmakers come and enjoy discounts on pizza, food and drinks, courtesy of the Slice Bar and Grill and mingle with other filmmakers embarking on the same journey as you. Then at 6:00PM the clock starts ticking when you receive your prompt packages and the filmmaking journey begins. Don't have a team, no sweat. Come on out and get paired up with a willing team and make some new friends in the process.

WHERE:

1. Slice Bar and Grill - 314 8ST South, Lethbridge, AB - September 13th - 5:00PM
2. CASA - 230 8ST South, Lethbridge, AB - September 21st - 2:00PM - 5:00PM (Community Room)

HOW:

• Local and non local teams will get their PROMPT PACKAGES on SEPTEMBER 13TH @ 6:00PM (either in person or by email). Teams will then have 48 HOURS to write, shoot, edit and deliver their 2-5 minute film that adheres to the prompt they received. Films must be submitted by SEPTEMBER 15TH @ 7:00PM to be considered for awards. Following the submission deadline the Lethbridge Independent Film Society appointed judges will review and adjudicate the films.

Things to expect for prompts (examples):

• Include a line of dialogue from X (popular film)
• Use this X (prop) in an unconventional way
• Incorporate this bit of film trivia into your film
• Use this quote "X" in the film
• One character must say something silently
• Your film must adhere to the genre = X a majority of the film.

**The above are just examples of what may be in your prompt packages**

WHY:

• Because we want to celebrate filmmaking as see what you've got while offereing development, networking, exhibition and appreciation to Southern Albertan filmmakers.

AWARDS CEREMONY AND SHOWCASE:

• Then on SEPTEMBER 21ST from 2:00PM - 5:00PM @ CASA (230 8st South) in Lethbridge the filmmakers and the community come together to showcase the films and present awards to the winning productions.

COST FOR TEAM ENTRY (Includes 2 admissions to the awards ceremony and a 50% discount for additional team member tickets:

• Regular Team Entry (until Sept 9th):                        $35
• Late Team Entry (Sept 10th-13th):                            $45

SIGNING UP: 

• To sign up: Please fill out the registration form attached herein and RSVP. You will then receive an email instucting you to pay your entry fee via e-transfer. Once your payment is received you will receive a confirmation email with your admission. If you are a non-local team you will receive your prompt package via email on September 13th at approximately 6:00PM. If you are a local team and attending the launch party you will receive your prompt package at the launch.
