PROJECTS
Here at LIFS our members are passionate films. Making them, showing them, studying them, watching them - we just love film; which is why we coined FOR THE LOVE OF FILM. In this section of our site you'll find our completed community projects as well as a showcase of some of our members work too. From community projects to short films, you'll find something to kill a little time here.

In Spring of 2025 one of our own is turned heads with a bold, grassroots project—Nick Bohle, LIFS Board Member, has produced a nostalgic detective pilot set right here in YQL with the support of Telus STORYHIVE, the Alberta Film Commission and generous private funding donors.
Many LIFS members and volunteers were involved. The pilot is slated for broadcast release on Telus Optik OnDemand in December 2026.
It's called:
THERE ARE NO SQUIRRELS IN LETHBRIDGE
A 90s-themed, neo-noir TV pilot that’s local, gritty, and full of heart.
COMING SOON

Here’s Nick’s message:

Lethbridge — this one’s for you.

My name’s Nick Bohle, and if you know me, you know my mission: to heal through the power of stories we live and tell—stories that live, breathe, and belong to the communities they come from.

Today, I’m asking for your help to bring a powerful story home.

"There Are No Squirrels in Lethbridge" is a 90s-themed, neo-noir TV pilot set right here in our city. It’s bold. It’s nostalgic. It’s professionally cast and crewed. And it’s ready to show the world what Lethbridge creators can do.

We’ve already secured some funding and the support of industry veterans behind shows like The Last of Us, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Heartland, Fargo, Togo, and more. But to finish strong, we need you.
48 HOUR FILM FESTIVALS
As we look to our 3rd annual installment of the Lethbridge 48 Hour Film Festival we want to honour and celebrate the filmmakers and films that have made the last two years so special.

2026 is shaping up to be a banner year for the festival and we hope to see you in Lethbridge in October for our launch party. Stay tuned for announcements and in the meantime go check out some of the great films that have graced our screens these first two years in the windy city.
ENVIRONMENT LETHBRIDGE
In 2019 we teamed up with Michael Bartz and Environment Lethbridge to make this little mini-series of videos that bring awareness to food and water waste through their Wasteless Food Campaign.

Michael wrote the pieces and brought out his unique comedic flare to make a sticky topic a lot more digestible. It was a pleasure to work with the team and we all learned something about food waste in the process. A great community initiative full of money and food saving tips, tricks, and information.

WIDE SKIES MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL
2019
The Wide Skies Music and Arts Festival hosts musicians and artisans from far and wide. Musicians from all over the world come to play on the intimate stages on 12th street south in Lethbridge. LIFS members had the pleasure of covering the last Wide Skies and we had a blast. Here's festival founder, Mike Spencer, giving us all the details on this great two day event.
